Kansas - "On The Other Side"

The empty page before me now, the pen is in my hand
The words don't come so easy but I'm trying
I'm searching for a melody or some forgotten line
They can slip away from us so quickly
Don't be unkind I'm not complaining
I only feel it needs explaining

(Chorus)
Though I've said it all before I'll say it once again (one more time)
Everyone needs something to believe in

So turn around, turn around it's on the other side
Feel the sound, feel the sound, it's coming from deep inside
It will fill you with emotion, if you let it be your guide so
Turn around; turn around, it's on the other side

I'm waiting for the day to end another to begin
Somehow I've forgotten what it stood for
I look into your face and see the searching in your eyes
I will he your servant till the end
The music plays, and for a moment I feel
That all there days an so fulfilling

(Chorus)

Desperation shows its ugly face in many ways
No one can escape the times we live in
The answers are so simple and we all know where to look
But it's easier to just avoid the question
And if I seem too inconclusive
It's just because it's so elusive

Kansas - Dust In The Wind (Letra Traducida)

I CLOSE MY EYES
ONLY FOR A MOMENT AND THE MOMENTS GONE
ALL MY DREAMS
PASS BEFORE MY EYES A CURIOSITY

DUST IN THE WIND
ALL THEY ARE IS DUST IN THE WIND
SAME OLD SONG
JUST A DROP OF WATER IN AN ENDLESS SEA

ALL WE DO
Letras4U.com » letras traducidas al español
CRUMBLES TO THE GROUND, THOUGH WE REFUSE TO SEE
DUST IN THE WIND
ALL WE ARE IS DUST IN THE WIND
NOW DONT HANG ON
NOTHIN LASTS FOREVER BUT THE EARTH AND SKY

IT SLIPS AWAY
AND ALL YOUR MONEY WONT ANOTHER MINUTE BUY
DUST IN THE WIND
ALL WE ARE IS DUST IN THE WIND
DUST IN THE WIND
EVERYTHING IS DUST IN THE WIND

CIERRO MIS OJOS
SÓLO POR UN MOMENTO Y EL MOMENTO SE HA IDO
TODOS MIS SUEÑOS
PASARON ANTE MIS OJOS, UNA CURIOSIDAD

POLVO EN EL VIENTO
SÓLO SON POLVO EN EL VIENTO
LA MISMA VIEJA CANCIÓN
SÓLO UNA GOTA DE AGUA EN UN INTERMINABLE MAR
TODO LO QUE HACEMOS
Letras4U.com » letras traducidas al español
SE PULVERIZA AL SUELO, AUNQUE NOS NEGUEMOS A VER
POLVO EN EL VIENTO
SÓLO SOMOS POLVO EN EL VIENTO
AHORA RESISTE
NADA DURA PARA SIEMPRE EXCEPTO LA TIERRA Y EL IELO
SE NOS ESCABULLE
Y TODO TU DINERO NO COMPRARÁ OTRO MINUTO

POLVO EN EL VIENTO
SÓLO SOMOS POLVO EN EL VIENTO
POLVO EN EL VIENTO
TODO ES POLVO EN EL VIENTO.

Formed in Kansas (yes) Kansas guitarist Kerry Livgren by drummer Phil Ehart and who had already taken a couple of bands in the 1970's. Proto-Kaw (cuneiform) collects the first recordings from 1971 to 73 from a proto-Kansas line up that played melodic progressive rock.
Leveraging classic touches violinist Robby Steinhardt of and keyboardist Steve Walsh, the band's first album, Kansas (Kirshner, 1974), Mask (1975) and Song For America (1975) approached Yes' pomp-rock at an angle more intimate and melodic. The first contains the beautiful I can know you and the ambitious Suite death of Mother Nature. Leftoverture (1976) was the album that made them stars, thanks to the catchy Carry On Wayward Son and the elegant suite Magnum Opus, while the point of return known (1977) gave his signature ballad, Dust In The Wind, and point Of Know Return. Monolith (1979) and Audio-Visions (1980) continued the series of successful albums, but Vinyl Confessions (1982), the first album without Walsh, was the beginning of the end, and the group disbanded after drastic measures (1983 .)

The lead singer Steve Walsh of Kansas moved to Atlanta, and recruited bassist Billy Greer, drummer Tim Gehrt, and guitarist Mike Slammer formed by the streets. They released the first (Atlantic, 1984), with the hit If love should go, and the crimes of the Mind (1985).

Ehart, Williams and Walsh reform of Kansas, the addition of Steve Morse, and saved energy (MCA, 1986) and In The Spirit of Things (1988).

Kansas differed from their American peers for being an American band that dared to delve into the bowels of the British progressive art-rock groups like Genesis. Thus, Kansas is a truly rare hybrid with a concept from British progressive rock more and more American arena rock. It's hard not to admire his ambition manifests. The album mixes a lot of scales and arpeggios, dramatic organ and a majestic ballads. Like his music is more based on the boogie rather than in the art-rock, is not so heavy and also makes a group with a unique sound. But uniqueness is not synonymous with quality, but here shows Kansas have both.

Kansas's third album, 'Masque' is a dark lyrical effort guitarist and keyboardist Kerry Livgren. Musically, announces the instrumental melodies that appear in the following albums, 'Leftoverture' and 'Point Of Know Return'. Right now is the only progressive rock band of Robbie Steinhardt EE.UU.El work on the violin, no doubt, helped Kansas achieve a distinctive sound. The notes indicate that 'Masque' is a "concept album" A costume created reality through a play or musical. It opens with "It Takes a Woman's Love (To Make a Man)" atypical to the rest of the album. The song is pretty basic, but beautifully pop, and deals with the loneliness of the musicians on the road, dressed with some sax lines.

For any art rock band, the fourth album means that it is time to take a work of art with style. Therefore, Kansas wrote and recorded 'Song', an impenetrable enigma topped by no less than a set of five parts, aptly titled "Magnum Opus". Opens with one of the greatest successes of Kansas, "Carry On Wayward Son", a song that manages to be pompous and catchy at the same time. Kansas are certainly instrumentally competent and you can create songs and compositions, very ambitious. It would be unfair to attack Kansas for a concept with an impenetrable concept album, but unless the previous topic, there is nothing more interesting.

This is the definitive recording of Kansas and includes his most famous song, "Dust in the Wind". The band is in top form. Also included the smash hit 'Point Of Know Return', which is still played daily on classic rock stations. Although its focus is clearly oriented pop, the sound of his guitars helped define the sound of classic rock from the 70's. "Paradox" and "The Spider" are excellent examples of their progressive approach. Unfortunately, the band has always strived to maintain a healthy balance between progression and pop. This is most evident in tracks like "Portrait" and "Lightning's Hand". However, despite the inconsistencies, their interaction and musicality are superior to other recordings.

70 In recent years, Kansas had not only established itself as a progressive rock groups of the United States more adventurous, but even had a Top 20 under his belt. Finally he paused for breath after a series of five studio albums increasingly successful, timing for a live album. Originally released as a double vinyl, 'Two for the Show' is a wide and amazing adventure with these bombastic epics like "Journey from Mariabronn" and "Magnum Opus" or with hit singles such as "Carry on Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind ". This time, Kansas, had exhausted all aspects of his musical style. There are good things, but the success of the band seemed to be having an effect on their integrity and judgment, given the propensity to pop songs and lyrics juveniles. The concept of the album, Indian futuristic space helmets, did not help. Despite the chorus of "People of the South Wind" is catchy, the melody of the keyboard is ridiculously directed to the sounds of FM radios. Lack of effort and direction.

At the time of their eighth album, 'Audio-Visions', Kansas had entered a post-successful. Leaders Kerry Livgren and Steve Walsh were devoting time to making their own records, and Kansas was becoming a part-time occupation. The two split the songwriting duties on "Audio-Visions' spirituality Livgren alternating with more lyrical sentimentality earthly Walsh. "Hold On" won the Top 40, and "Got to Rock" entered the singles charts, but nothing to remind us that made music in the 70's. 'Audio-Visions' was the last of seven consecutive albums of Kansas to get gold or platinum. In 1981, Walsh left the band.

Replacing Steve Walsh by singer and keyboardist John Mayer, proved that they could keep scoring hits, patent with songs like "Play the Game Tonight". The undisputed leader of the group is Kerry Livgren. However, the compositional CONTRIBUTION Elephant had a big weight in the group, turning to religious feelings. Fans who had been willing to accept ideas like "Dust In The Wind" were less patient with the ideas expressed in "Face It" ("How many times do I have to tell you?") Or "(You 'Standing on re The) Borderline ". Or maybe it was just that it was getting difficult to distinguish Kansas Foreigner or Journey. In any case, 'Vinyl Confessions "was the first Kansas album since his debut that went gold.

1983-Drastic Measures

Punctuation: 4
Style: ArenaRock, Prog-Rock, ArtRock, AlbumRock
John Mayer, who had joined Kansas' Vinyl Confessions "in 1982, dominated the group next album, six of the nine songs. Elephant looked a little bewildered by his new situation ("Everybody's My Friend"), while Kerry Livgren, leader of the band, seemed exhausted by the pressure to sell records ("Mainstream"). Kansas turned to a more hard rock sound. However, the enervation of the group was palpable, and spread to his fans: 'Drastic Measures' was the least successful album since its debut in Kansas. As expected, it was also caused the dissolution of the group. Kerry Livgren was dedicated to his solo career and John Elefante became his producer.

After a break of three years, Kansas was reformed in 1986, he signed with MCA, and edited 'Power'. The album has almost no resemblance to the old style of Kansas, in fact, is more hard rock hard rock and progressive pop. The opening song, "Silhouettes in Disguise" immediately announces a change to the listeners. "Power" was a minor hit with a simple but effective chorus. "All I Wanted" is pure pop. The instrumental "Musicatto" is the album's main link to the past progressive Kansas. "Taking in the View" is a soft song with sweet acoustic guitar and a chorus of children. "Three Pretenders" and "Tomb 19" are based on hard rock with good vocals both. "Can not Cry Anymore" is an orchestral ballad. 'Power' probably surprised the fans of Kansas for his change of musical direction, but the addition of Steve Morse gave the band an air of interest, a new course.
